GTM execution excellence

An approved go-to-market strategy fails in execution through weak handoffs, unreliable pipeline, poorly controlled deals, delayed customer value and revenue leakage. The symptoms are visible every quarter: pipeline is too thin or of low quality; forecasts are missed; the sales process is inconsistent and deals are lost to no-decision; CRM data cannot be trusted; tools are disconnected; sellers spend most of their time on non-selling work; churn arrives as a surprise; discounting happens without control.

Methodology training alone rarely fixes this. Research cited in my databank (ES Research) finds that 85 to 90 percent of sales training has no lasting impact after 120 days. Execution improves when the process is embedded in the CRM, inspected by managers and reinforced through cadence and coaching.

My execution improvements are designed from the client's own CRM, call and billing data and built into systems and operating rhythms, so they persist after the engagement ends.

What I do

Who this is for

Economic buyers: CRO or CSO; VP Sales; CMO; VP Demand Generation; Chief Customer Officer; VP Revenue Operations or Sales Operations; CFO (forecasting, deal desk); VP Partnerships; PE operating partner.

Typical situations

  • A CRO who cannot commit the forecast to the board and whose quarter-end surprises are eroding credibility with the CEO and investors.
  • A scale-up where marketing and sales disagree about lead quality and the handoff loses demand that has already been paid for.
  • A company whose top accounts are under-penetrated, single-threaded and managed reactively.
  • A Chief Customer Officer whose renewals are handled late, whose health scoring does not predict churn, and whose expansion is ad hoc.
  • A CFO who wants a deal desk before margin leakage and slow quoting become structural, and who needs revenue data the finance team can trust.
  • A software company with hyperscaler partnerships that produce announcements but little measurable co-sell pipeline.
  • A PE-backed company that needs a measurable increase in revenue per seller within the hold period.
  • An IT services or professional services firm whose growth depends on a small number of large pursuits each year.

How this connects to the other areas

GTM execution excellence makes the choices made in GTM strategy & growth work in day-to-day commercial activity, and produces the data that Business strategy & performance depends on for credible plans. The managers, incentives and enablement systems that sustain execution sit in GTM organisation, talent & enablement. The revenue data model built here is the foundation for the agentic workflows and AI tooling in AI-enabled GTM transformation; AI deployed on unreliable CRM data produces unreliable output.

Engagement formats

  • Execution diagnostic (typically four to eight weeks): a sales productivity, pipeline generation, forecasting or RevOps maturity diagnostic on the client's own CRM, call and billing data, producing a fact base and a prioritised plan.
  • Multi-lever commercial excellence programme (typically ten to twenty-four weeks): process, data, cadence and governance improvements across two or more categories, with implementation support until the numbers move.
  • Managed services ongoing RevOps, renewal desk or deal desk operation where the client prefers not to build the function in-house.
  • Pursuit support senior capacity and win strategy on one or more live large pursuits.
  • Workshops single or multi-session Excellence workshops for a team, a management layer or a leadership group.

Packaged offers that start in this area

  • Predictable revenue engine (CRO): improved forecast accuracy and pipeline hygiene against an agreed baseline, through sales process design, forecasting methodology, revenue operating rhythm and a revenue data model.
  • NRR accelerator (Chief Customer Officer / CRO): higher gross and net revenue retention through retention strategy, health scoring, a renewal desk and aligned compensation.
  • New CRO launchpad (CEO / new CRO): a fact-based 100-day plan and early pipeline actions for a new revenue leader.

Outcomes the economic buyer can expect

  • More qualified pipeline at lower cost per opportunity.
  • Higher win rates and shorter sales cycles.
  • Forecast accuracy within a few percentage points, with fewer quarter-end surprises.
  • Higher seller productivity and more time in selling.
  • Lower churn, higher gross and net revenue retention.
  • Cleaner data, trusted reporting and lower tool cost.
  • Protected margin through deal governance.
